  • You can run any type of programming language you want. 
  • You can have as many processes running at the same time. 
  • You do not share a server with other people. 
  • You are in control of everything that is running on the server. 
  • saves money from purchasing a web host from your web provider.

Cons

  • The security is up to the owner. 
  • It is possible for security to not be high enough and can get hacked. 
  • You need to do all the maintenance and security and hope you can catch anything bad happening. 
  • Taking lots of time to self-service the webserver. For a paid web server you have the host maintain security 
  • Running a server from your house can leave your internet network vulnerable to attacks from outsiders on the internet. 
  • If the power or Internet goes down the server will shut down. 
  • The server is not distributed can cause long page load times.
